Further Signs That The Housing Market is Improving
Demand is Exceeding Supply in Certain Areas of the Ipswich Property Market
Demand for properties is exceeding supply in certain areas of the Ipswich property market. Jonathan Waters, managing director reports: “in some cases we are registering 2-3 buyers for each available property for popular types of homes, such as bungalows and modern 2/3 bedroom semis."
Even in December, which is traditionally a quiet month for property sales, we have seen a substantial amount of activity at our two Ipswich offices. This has been considerably higher than what we were expecting and more than in any previous December.
The UK Property Market
More generally, across the UK property market, demand has, over the last few months, outweighed supply, with an average of 5 new buyers being registered to each property available. This demand has helped close the gap between the asking price and sales price due to the increased competition from other buyers.
Gary Smith, the President of the NAEA said: “There is strong demand for property and more optimism in the housing market than we have seen for months. This is good news for the recovery of the market and for the UK economy in general.”
