A recovery bounce as pronounced as the fall

“You know Peter I remember the great
property fall of 2008 and I predict that
when you’re ready to enter the financial
markets at the end of 2009 the market may well have bounced back!”
January starts off the year with an increase in sales which we hope will continue…
Here at Jonathan Waters Estate Agents the new year has really started off well with a record number of sales and a high number of properties coming onto the market. We have a superb stock of homes to choose from and are finding that there are increasing amounts of viewers willing to consider a purchase even though the media will have us believe that it is all doom and gloom!
It is an excellent time to purchase and sell with clients being more realistic in their approach to reaching their goal, and if sellers have to take a drop with a lower offer on their property, the chances are that this could be absorbed throughout the onward chain.
The National Association of Estate Agents reported a slight increase in activity at the end of 2008 after a few months of decline and here at Jonathan Waters we had a better December than last year with a fantastic January!
The NAEA are also reporting positive signs in the market with the nuber of house hunters registered with agents rising from 186 in November to 200 in December, while the number of properties available for sale on the average agent’s books increasing from 87 to 100 over the same time period.
NAEA president Chris Brown said “After 12 months of misery, it is heartening to see that some agents across the country performed better than expected at the tail end of 2008, these figures should be taken as hopefully suggesting that the matket is, in some areas, beginning to bottom out”.
Jonathan Waters Estate Agents believe that as the market stabilises and more products become available to purchasers and especially first time buyers, that activity will increase. We are positive we are able to offer support and advice to anyone considering purchasing or selling with our wealth of knowledge and experience in this tough market.
