Property News from Jonathan Waters Estate Agents

This weeks news and views

It has been a busy week for the media this week with activity in America affecting the markets here in the UK at the beginning and the end of the week. Most of the media reports were negative but I have to say that here at Jonathan Waters Estate Agents we have got off to a flying start with house sales which we hope will continue through the month - these have been achieved with vendors being very open to offers and adjusting the asking price of their properties to make them VERY attractive to potential purchasers.

We are always happy to discuss any queries you may have with negative marketing reports and how the current market conditions may affect your plans with marketing now or in the future, obviously no one knows what will happen in the next few months but we can advise and help with what is happening now

Current headlines

People still need to move for all the traditional reasons and good property realistically priced continues to command a market. Because most sellers are also buyers it is not the value of the property but the differential between it and the property to be purchased that really counts. Is it genuinely a loss for those wanting to trade up, faced with a smaller gap in price and a greater choice of properties? It’s actually a great time to buy!

45% of NAEA members say tidying up clutter will increase the saleability of your home - Oct 2008

Members found that the best way to increase the saleability of the home was to de-clutter and tidy. The survey looked at ways to help increase the chance of a sale with many members emphasising that first impressions were very important in this market. Re decorating was close behind at 22% ! (Please see our guide to house preparation for sale)
